Fast Shutter Speed (photo 1):
The shutter speed I chose for my first photo was 1/1000. The ISO was 6400 and the White Balance was auto with indoor lighting. We used the auto setting on the camera when we used the point and shoot camera. The action we froze was a spinning umbrella. We were very close to the umbrella and our point of view was from underneath the umbrella. The pole of the umbrella helps show that the top is spinning around. The colors stand out in the picture. All of the metal wires show a sense of line in the shot.
Slow Shutter Speed (photo 2):
The shutter speed for the second photo was 1/15 so the image would be blurry. The ISO was 800 and the White Balance was also auto and indoor lighting. The entire picture shows blur, but mainly the top colored part of the umbrella. We changed the shutter speed and ISO from the first picture to get a different shot. We used the same action to take this picture, which was a spinning umbrella. The point of view was the same as the first. The colors enhance the photo by helping to show the slow shutter speed.

Painting with Light
Painting with Light Reflection
The second photo posted above is made using three light sources. Each person in my group had a different light source in which we each made a different design with. The shutter speed was set for 2.5 seconds so we would have time to run in front of the camera and capture the photo. To make the light source, we used Christmas lights, as well as two smaller light sources. To achieve the effect we each spun the light source in a different way. The viewer of the photo may be drawn towards the different shapes, lines, and colors of this photo.
Aperture
Aperture Reflection
To create a shallow depth of field, I set the f-stop on the camera to a large aperture such as 4 or 5. For the second picture my f-stop was 4.2. I used the ISO of 1600 for most of the pictures and the white balance setting flourescent. On the point and shoot camera we used the manual setting to focus on what we wanted to. To create a large depth of field I set the f-stop to 29. The ISO was 3200 and the White Balance was set to flourescent. In my opinion, the first picture is better because more of the shot is in focus. You may want to use a shallow depth of field to create a sense of mystery of what is father away, out of focus. You may also want to use a shallow depth to better focus on one object that is closer to the camera. A large depth of field would be better if you have a large landscape and want to focus the entire shot.

Favorite Thing
Favorite Thing Reflection
For my photos I chose to photograph my friend Sara's shoes. I chose this object because it had a lot of nice details that I thought would look nice in a close up shot. I photographed from super close up and also farther away. I shot from straight-on, underneath, and above the boots. I set the white balance to flourescent because I used the special lighting in the classroom. Almost all of the photos have a large depth of field and no part of them is out of focus. I used the macro lens to get the shots that were extremely close up.

Expressive Light Portraits
Expressive Light Portrait Reflection
For my favorite photo, I chose the one that I took from the left angle. I put the light to the left of the model and took the picture from the front. I had somebody hold the reflector on the side of her so the light would be directly on her face. The name of the magazine was Better Homes & Gardens because my model was acting as Mother Nature. Some of the pictures are brighter, symbolizing a happy, bright day, while some of the pictures are darker, indicating a gloomy, dark day.
I picked this photo as my favorite because there is levels of contrast on Aliscia’s face. She has a powerful look on her face yet she has a level of confusion in her face. This makes the photo very mysterious. The left side of her face is brighter while the right side is darker.

Double Exposure
Double Exposure Reflection
I chose a few pictures of Aliscia for the first layer and a picture of a tree for the double exposure. I decided to use the tree because the original pictures of the model were shown as mother nature, and the tree complemented these photos nicely. I used the blending modes in photoshop to merge these pictures. I also used the eraser tool to take out the areas of the tree that I didn't want. My double exposure conveys the relationship between mother nature and the tree.
Photo Essay
Photo Essay Reflection
The subject for my photo essay is gymnastics. I took most of my photographs at Gym Hutt Gymnastics in Lakeville, MA. Although, one of my pictures is from the beach. I selected this place because I go there all the time to practice and coach. It is important to me because I go there so often and I have been going there since I was really young. I am portraying hard work and dedication throughout these photos. To capture the story I changed all the photos to black and white to relate them better. I took many of these pictures close up to bring them together, as well as changing them all to black and white.

Letter Form
For this assignment we went around the school to find forms of objects that could appear as letters. These are just a few of the letter forms that I found throughout the school.
